History
Furahi was never raced. Her dam’s sire is Totally Ruthless (USA) and she had one previous foal and had originally been purchased as a broodmare beause of her conformation, temerament and gait possibilities. She had been bred to Romeo and unfortunately gave birth to premature foal with breech presentation and subsequently had a badly retained placenta. The foal didn’t survive, but we saved her due to veterinary intervention and a long stay in the good care of Ballarat Vet Practice. I decided to retire her from breeding and to start her under saddle instead.
As of April 2025, she is going nicely under saddle and proving herself to be a very sensible and calm riding horse. She has been out on trail rides solo and in company. She has also started taking part in some of our combined training sessions, and we’ve had a play with carrying weapons. She is progressing well in her education and we are getting very close to riding off the seat and with one hand. In parallel, I’m working in squaring up her gaits as she is very lateral in her movement. This is also progressing well and she is quite comfortable to ride on the trail now and much more balanced under saddle in general. We are in the process of establishing shoulder in and travers, which is helping with her balance as well.
Gaits & Movement
Furahi is strongly naturally gaited, showing a walk, trot, canter and amble, with a preference for lateral gaits. She has a large stride and very fluid movement.
Personality
She has a pleasant, easy to work with temperament. She is sensible and ok next to other horses, around dogs and people she doesn’t know. In the herd she is middle of the pecking order.
