On the first May weekend, I went to the SA Medieval Fair in Paracombe with The King’s Horses. We took Phoebus, Keldan and Sparky.

We did a skill at arms display with Phoebus and Keldan. It included picking up rings at a canter, first with a dagger, then sword, and finally a lance. Then cutting heads of lettuce with a sword and quintain runs with a lance. Next, we took turn dragging a sack, for the other rider to hit with a short spear. Finally, Craig smashed a big watermelon to demonstate the power of a heavy bronze mace.

In the afternoon of each day, we did an arming of the knight display, where we showed all the different armour components and how they are attached and our MC gave explanation of the function of each piece, while pointing out differences between the two different harnesses we used on the day. This was followed by a joust display, where I rode Sparky for the first time in public joust, and Craig rode Keldan.
